In Response To: Re: I'm thinking no . . . (Warp2) : Anyway, I suspect Bungie understands the importance of a silent hero far more : than I, which is why I think they'll go one step further than the Chief : and they won't allow the character to be distinguished as male OR female. That's kind of what I was thinking. They might go the Half Life / F.E.A.R. route and never have the character say ANYTHING, letting others address you simply as "Rookie." Then again, all previous Halo games used death grunts when the Chief was killed. . . Still, I wouldn't be surprised if the rookie is identified as female. Right now, Bungie seems to be stressing the fact that their will be a vast gulf between the physical abilities of the ODST and Master Chief. Once you're no longer a SPARTAN, it'll be pretty tough notice the slight difference between a fit human male and a fit human female. I heard an interview with Sigourney Weaver once that did a great job explaining the use of the female heroine, Ripley, in the Alien saga. The idea was that the Alien was so powerful and terrifying that the physical difference between men and women meant exactly nothing. In the end, it was Ripley's resourcefulness, courage, and luck that were her keys to survival.
