To me, Halo 3 doesn't have that same little kick. Actually, for me, the true power of that line (cheesy as it is) is revealed only when playing the end of Halo 3. When you can see the naked steel mountains, bereft of whatever false landscaping is put on later, the full meaning of "not a natural formation" comes through. It doesn't mean what it LOOKS like it means in Halo 1. That tunnel entrance clearly was artificial. But ANY cave entrance on Halo, with or without posts and lintel, is unnatural, since the whole damn thing is artificial. It's something that's obviously true but for me didn't really hit home in the same way until that final run. Still leaves the unanswered question-- why landscape it at all? What is all the surface for? Why climate control? What was supposed to live on the surface? Why make a livable biosphere on a galaxy-killing weapon that doubles as quarantine storage for the most deadly biological hazard in the universe-- the very one that necessitates having a galaxy-killing weapon? 'Tis a puzzlement. : Seeing the Ark for the first time is always a great feeling. Seeing how huge : it is and standing on it, looking up at the lotus-like petals is : beautiful. But that's still half way through the game. I just don't care : about the Earth levels Agreed. They're setup/padding.
