In Response To: Re: My own H3 wishlist (The More Deluded) : But I liked em going fast, cos sometimes it was kinda 'blink and you'll miss it' sort of thing, : which fits in with them being assassins. Possibly that fits in with their H2 sniping character, but they weren't 'assassins' in H1 though. Major character change, I'd say. Just out of interest, does anyone know if Bungie has ever said anything about why they wanted to make Jackals move so much faster? : Bring back the blue shields and the skull cap thing too Yay! I have to say, I always thought the H1 jackals with the big curving helmets / beak-guards were my favourite, visually. Actually it was a long while before I realized it WAS a helmet; I used to think I was looking at a big curving grey beak. Oops. Talking about variety, am I also right in thinking that the H2 grunts only featured the POINTY backpacks? If so, how come Bungie opted to restrict the variety? I always found the curvy backpacks funnier. Did they also restrict the variety in other aspects of covie apperance? (Sorry, haven't got H2 any more, else I'd check.) : No. I just can't find the H1 grunts funny compared to the H2 ones, gotta disagree wiv ya there. Wow, I'm surprised. You make me want to get hold of H2 again to remind myself how they compare. My memory is that they seemed a lot quieter and less reactive, quite apart from the lines being spoken in a different voice and not being as funny as the originals. I thought of the H2 Grunts as being merely amusing, rather than (as in H1) hilarious. : the Needler being twiddled with already Heh, there's nothing like a spot of needler twiddling eh? Captain Spark likes a bit of that. : ... keep the sound effects they have for H2 But I can't understand how you could prefer that weak H2 needler bang over the original glass-shatter sound effect; an effect which was actually my favourite in the whole game. You could practically FEEL it wreaking havoc on the hapless enemy as their body jerked around with the force of it. : *cough* sniper melee *cough* I think someone else made a pointed remark about that somewhere, but I'm not sure exactly what the objection is. I actually did some careful testing with melee attacks (some while back), and was surprised to find that the sniper rifle can achieve a whack rate of around 60 per minute, which matches the AR and plasma pistol. So you can't fault it on that. Probably slower to get a first hit in though - is that what the complaint is? Maybe harder to connect? I do actually whack with it occasionally, but I think I make a point of being nice and close to the enemy. : but the warthog... Well as long as they can actually run stuff down in H3 (and not you when you tap it slightly) then thats fine by me It's certainly bad that in H1, a Marine tends to crumple if you so much as brush your hog against him. Very annoying. But it's also annoying that they don't have the intelligence to stay well clear until you stop! Dang bozos. : The only truely, mind boggilngly cheesy battle is the last one Maybe, but I did also hate the Regret one where you can only kill him by jumping up on his throne and whacking him a lot (if I'm not mistaken). The giant steel bug thing I didn't mind, if you count that as a boss battle. It's when you have arbitrary counter-intuitive gameplay elements that boss battles gets annoying. : Heretic leader is just fighting 3 rangers I can't actually remember that one any more, though I do remember the game locking me in a room with him at one point, which was somewhat annoying. : Yeah, more marines, that'd be good. Well, more Marines AND more covies! Come on Bungie, pile 'em in... : H3 I imagine is gonna be a blend of H1 and H2 To be honest I don't hold out a lot of hope for any significant return to H1 feel. I just don't think the universe works that way. My best hope is probably if Bungie do their reinvention thing all over again, and maybe it'll come out sufficiently different from H2 that I can enjoy it this time. C'mon Bungie, I'm rootin' for ya. Shake those fiendish dice of reinvention one more time...
