Their : existance was only speculated prior to that battle. The war was just : Jackals and Grunts vs. Humans until 2552 when Hunters, Engineers appeared : on Sigma Octanus, Elites appeared at Reach, and Prophets, Buggers and : Brutes appeared in October. I thought it was a stupid idea to have Elites appear after Hunters on the battlefield. Their presence on in Covenant war fare is important to Halo. Having them appear last in the story, in my opinion, made them look like some kind of secret weapon, when really they are the driving force of the military. I guess it could still be canon, since the events at Harvest were a bit mysterious. I'd assume all the going-ons there would be classified. I really do wish that that awfully stupid concept in TFOR would be over ruled by some other canon. The Covenant conducting warfare without Elites just isn't right.
