Yeah, I didn't really like the idea that Sarge is a Spartan 1 but having looked over that gallery piece properly and really put all the jigsaw pieces together, its looking pretty solid. Especially if Bungie have changed their minds and the old Joe Staten interview comment about ILB can be thrown into the trashcan.
Don't like it, but I'm not going to say Bungie are wrong just because of that. =P
Just have to suck it up and accept it.

As for Breaking Quarantine still working with FS, well, the key thing is that at no point did an infection form actually seem to -get- Johnson. In the first and second panel he's shoving one off with his hand. No real indication it had attempted and failed to infect him.
Are the Spartans immune to the Flood? That seems unlikely. One nearly gets the Chief at the end of The Flood. An infection form never gets its 'teeth' into Johnson as far as we know either, so there's no reason to assume immune if we never see that. And even if one of the after effects from Project Orion is to cause an irregularity in the nervous system, does that still mean any of the immune suggestion as a result of that is valid at all.

The question I find though is why Borens Syndrome as a coverup? What effects from Project Orion would be explained away by Borens Syndrome?
One thing I note is that the medical record suggests it means his lifespan will be greatly reduced. Well, Johnson is apparently around about 70 now.
Perhaps part of Project Orion has meant that while he seemingly ages slower physically (or spent half his life in cryo-freeze), it does not actually extend his whole lifespan beyond a normal person and he could actually die of 'old age' in the next 10 or 20 years, while still looking far younger.

All rampant speculation, but the door is pretty open now.
