: "I am a monument to all your sins..." -Gravemind

Oh, man! I'd forgotten that entirely! Thanks for reminding me. And by the way, look at this. It comes from pantheon.org.

"While Hades is the main realm of the dead in Greek mythology, Tartarus also contains a number of characters. In early stories, it is primarily the prison for defeated gods; the Titans were condemned to Tartarus after losing their battle against the Olympian gods, and the hecatoncheires stood over them as guards at the bronze gates. When Zeus overcomes the monster Typhus, born from Tartarus and Gaia, he hurls it too into the same abyss."

This implies a connection between Tartarus and Earth, and the last sentence is a whopper. In case you're wondering who Typhus is-

"The inveterate enemy of the Olympian gods is described as a vast grisly monster with a hundred heads and a hundred serpents issuing from his thighs, who was conquered and cast into Tartarus by Zeus. or confined beneath Mount Etna (Pindar, Pythian Ode 1.19 - 20; Aeschylus, Prometheus Bound 370) where "his bed scratches and goads the whole length of his back stretched out against it," or in other volcanic regions, where he is the cause of eruptions."

All right, you have to stretch it a bit, but it does fit Gravemind, right? He is confined under the library, in the deepest part of the ring. (And tartarus was so deep that it took nine days for an anvil falling from earth to reach the place, so it fits)

And for Zeus-he is associated with the thunderbolt, which in Norse, is the Mjolnir, master chief's armor. MC gets rid of gravemind with something really powerful.

And here from HSP-
"5. And if any man will hurt them,
fire proceedeth out of their mouth,
and devoureth their enemies: and if
any man will hurt them, he must in
this manner be killed."

Fire=Typhon=Gravemind!!!

"6. These have power to shut heaven,
that it rain not in the days of their
prophecy: and have power over
the waters to turn them to blood, and
to smite the earth with plagues,
as often as they will."

Earth is badly beat up. Cliche.

"7. And when they shall have finished
their testimony, the beast that
ascendeth out of the bottomless pit
shall make war against them, and
shall overcome them, and kill them."

Beast from the bottom of the library=gravemind! The positioning of this verse implies an encounter between the two, as HSP says.

"8. And their dead bodies shall lie in
the street of the great city, which
spiritually is called Sodom and
Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified."

Egypt? Cairo station, anyone? Well, something happens there anyway.

"9. And they of the people and
kindreds and tongues and nations shall
see their bodies three days and
an half, and shall not suffer their
dead bodies to be put in graves.

10. And they that dwell upon the
earth shall rejoice over them, and
make merry, and shall send gifts one
to another; because these two
prophets tormented them that dwelt
on the earth."

An end to this madness. Phew!
