In Response To: Halo weapons should not support recoil (Nights) : i mean, come on...
: its just not... realistic As long as the Laws of Physics are in force, a slug-throwing weapon will have recoil. Modern weapons use some ingenious methods to dampen, compensate for, and even delay recoil (the HK G11 for example stores up recoil and dissipates it between 3-round burst) but as long as chemically-propelled rounds are used, you've gotta pay the price. Perhaps magnetically-accelerated rounds (like Traveller's gauss rifle) or weapons that fire self-propelled flechette rounds (sorta like the scram cannon in ONI, or the MBA Gyrojet pistol from the 50's) will have replaced traditional chemically-propelled rounds by Halo's time. |
