And Marathon had the most : tactical, skill-oriented carnage of any FPS. But that was built-in firing : randomness, not recoil—how are they connected? And why would a rifle have : Newtonian motion, and not a pistol? I think theta error was intended as a way to simulate recoil and encourage people to use different weapons- I made a physics model that gave the MA-75 the same accuracy as the pistol, and it basically made all the other weapons in the game unnecessary. As far as the MA-75 vs pistol situation goes, the guy with the MA-75 had to either close the distance or use the grenade launcher- in close, the MA-75 beat the pistol because it had a higher rate of fire.
