Times could not get better.
Posted By: Gorehead <Gorehead@bungie.com>Date: 6/20/00 12:12 p.m.

I'll put my love for the Macintosh platform (and how all computer platforms have depended on gaming to fuel growth) aside for a moment, and just think of this from a gaming perspective. As a Bungie fan, times could not get better. Consider the following proof:

1. Bungie was and is the home of the smartest, most talented and innovative game designers/authors in the world.
2. In today's rapidly changing game market, any developer can go out of business, and the stakes keep getting higher as development costs increase.
3. Bungie, like any game developer, could conceivably go out of business in the not-too-distant future.
4. Microsoft is one of the largest companies in the world.
5. Despite the DOJ, it is highly unlikely that MS in some form will ever go out of business.
6. The future of gaming is consoles.
7. Xbox has the potential to be the premier console.
8. In recent times, Microsoft has given some groups of developers a large degree of freedom.
9. Bungie, home of the smartest, most talented game designers/authors in the world, has, with the backing and resources of one of the largest companies in the world, essentially secured (forever) the ability to continue make the best games on the planet with fewer fiscal constraints and a large degree of freedom, while simultaneously shaping what could be the premier gaming platform.
