Agreed.

Agreed.

Unlikely... Bungie has said they were not at all short on cash. Oni and Halo would have been huge hits, Halo especially.

No way to debate this...

Forget the DOJ suit: The problem with being MS, or allying with them, is that everyone hates them. This will not change for the foreseeable future, or at least until another platform passes the 50% marketshare level.

The console market, especially the market for a brand-new console, misses out on a very large group: Those who already have the hardware and want to play games on it. Perhaps the type of person who would buy a $250 video card to increase his Q3 fps by 20% would buy an X-box for Halo, but they are a MUCH smaller segment of the gaming audience than most people seem to think. Hell, this year Who Wants To Be a Millionare outsold the entire FPS genre by at least an order of magnitude.

I'm not going to spend $350 for 1 good game and an otherwise useless chunk of hardware.

I disagree... The X-box is at least a year away. The PS2 will arrive in a matter of months, the Dolphin shortly afterwards, and those are from established leaders of the market. By the time the X-box arrives, the PS3 and the Dolphin 2 will be in hyper overdrive mode. MS's marketing to consumers hasn't been that great, especially to gamers (look at the MSN Gaming Zone).

Debatable, but reading the FAQ and Letter makes me agree.

> 9. Bungie [etc]

All I know is, they'd better still support my Mac.
