I'm sure the Covies know more than enough about their client races, but there's not much chance of us learning quite as much. I'm thinking that we can translate the Grunt and Elite languages, but haven't cracked the Hunters' yet. Also, more can be inferred from battlefield behavior of the Grunts and Elites, I would think. : things keep up with their own traditions, it seems obvious to me that the : armor would have been theirs, pre-covenant, since the invaders wouldn't : have a good idea of just HOW to armor these creatures, having little idea : of how they functioned. now on your second question, it's stated in the : Halo Library that "The only way to kill a Hunter is to attack the : "soft spots" around it's midsection where it's armor does not : fully protect the organisms. This spot is believed to be due to the fact : that a Hunter, in combat stance, contracts and hunches over, so any armor : around that portion of their body would cause severe discomfort and hinder : movement." if it's a matter of comfort and movement, then it would : seem to be a concession made by those who really know hunter biology: the : only ones suitable would be the hunters themselves. We learn a lot about what we kill. If the Hunters were brought in by force, and that looks like what happened, I'm certain that the Elites and Prophets know what their weaknesses are. I still believe that the current Hunter that we know and usually fear is a product not of Hunter culture and tradition, but of Covenant augmentation. Why? Well, worm clusters don't have hands and likely would not self-augment into a humanoid stance that is reminiscent of Elites, Prophets, Grunts, and Jackals. I find it far more likely that they were unarmored monstrosities and the Covenant shaped them into Covie line troops with the technology we've become familiar with. : keep up the discussion, : --dude1 Incidentally, ever notice just how naked the Covies are, really? Grunts have mostly exposed forearms, legs and midsections. I think Elites have a surprising amount of flesh exposed, and Jackals are wholly unarmored. Anyone else think this has to do with the fact that Covies are generally stone-age races who discovered tech or had it forced on them? Yrs., Twk
