Yeah, but mistakes are made even in the Bungie world. Nylund may have meant to give that Elite Gold armor. Also who is to say that on those life pods there is not some miracle working drug/ device that could heal an Elite right up? After all it IS a LIFE pod.

Plus remember in the epilogue of First Strike when the Prophet of High Truth says make sure the one that was responisble for the Ascendant Justice be punished. He did not say executed, he said punished. That could mean torture and the like for the Elite.

Better yet, just read my old slapped together theory that was made before the game shipped.
