Oh yeah, one more thing, about 343GS engineering the Flood, I thought that the Halos were made AFTER the Flood appeared? They were made to study and combat it. You can assume that a Monitor of the installation would be made when the Halo was being built, not that long before it. There was no reason for him to exist before Halo 04, and there was no reason for Halo 04 before the Flood, or at least that's what we're led to believe. So technically, the Monitor is the (indirect) result of the Flood, not the other way around.

With the slim chance he was around before Halo, making the Flood would cause the Halos to be built, and that would be his new job, which he obviously didn't like: watching a weapon for presumably the rest of eternity. And that job would continue forever, unless some crazy cyborg were to just blow it up (how in the world could that happen?).
