In Response To: Morality *OT* (MikeMan445) : I hope you don't equate being an atheist to having no morality. In fact, I
: Just my two cents. Don't want to see the atheists misrepresented (yet again)
I don't think he said that at all, actually - he actually defined his hypothetical person as 'an atheist who doesn't believe in morality' (in part) - which implies that in his worldview, there are atheist who DO believe in morality. If he really believed that being an atheist meant that you have no moral code, he would have simply said 'atheist', not 'atheist who doesn't believe in morality'. For his argument, he needed someone with no thought to a future beyond this life; an atheist was a decent place to start. Let's not get TOO far off the subject here. (Not that it matters much, but I'm pretty much in the camp with Thorshammer, Vector40, and Mig here; camping/screenlooking/whatever are annoying at times... but perfectly valid strategies, almost always beatable with other, perfectly valid strategies, and usually less effective, overall, because the person EMPLOYING these strategies isn't doing something else. I DO have my pet peeves. Exploiting engine glitches in multiplayer, for example; I believe players should have a right to expect that folks will treat a solid wall as it was intended to be treated - as impenetrable - so in real gameplay, these tricks should be banned, though they're pretty cool to see in non-competitive situations. That's WAY different than camping - even spawn-camping (which really only works for ffa games, unless the team being spawn-camped simply does not know how to work as a team).) |
