Hey, I'm American and take Spanish at school, and understand wholly linguistic masculinity and femininity. The English language is really pathetically structureless and seething with error and patternless, scattershot confusion. It is a very difficult language to learn as a non-second language, I would imagine. However, it can make a great first language because moving on to a language with more order and that makes more sense is much easier when you're used to simply having to KNOW words and not use any of their characteristics to discern their usage and other aspects.
