I don't know what this is referring to or what this is a response to. This is obviously regarding a white text terminal, but it's not one of the ones in the preceding message. Regardless, even if they're directed at the character, they're not meant to be taken literally.
And, no, I don't think if the player was told "go back and try another way" that they'd quit the game and try a different save. They would most likely try a solution in-game, such as retracing their steps through the level to see if they missed something. But in the case of this game, this isn't necessary because the players immediately are taken to another level that is clearly new and clearly represents "another way".
