Not a whole lot these days, honestly, just the nonlinearity and taking place back at Sol (which I didn't really get at the time, not having been all that interesting in the Solward back-history in Marathon back then).

Well, it's Rubicon-like in that it involves the end of the Pfhor war, and a deadly virus (of Nakh origin though); and it's Halo-like in that in that timeline Halo per se doesn't exist, and what in this timeline were early versions of its story got rolled into the climax of the Marathon 3 project that got cancelled in this timeline (our Halo taking place near the end of the Covenant war, the Covenant being Pfhor in that version).
