I had in mind Tycho's rant on the menial tasks he had to do as science AI (in M2), and I'd thought that it echoed something Durandal said earlier, but I went and looked and couldn't find it. Basically, I got the impression that these were Durandal-feelings and not pre-reanimation-Tycho-feelings.
I mean, he's a science AI. Surely they used him for more than
measurements? And Bernard basically reared Durandal to go rampant. By (possibly among other things) putting him in charge of menial tasks like door-opening.
I thought maybe part of Tycho's psychosis came from having an angry-feelings block that didn't really match up with his angry-memories block. (and, conversely, happy-feelings/happy-memories) Probably not as mentally calloused as Durandal, who had Bernard working him.

I guess what I was asking was if m2 would play out differently if the two had swapped places. I think, with the Tycho-nabs-the-scoutship scenario, I was asking how much having access to better hardware (and maybe S'pht opinion) contributed to stability, and how much would have happened anyway. The other was wondering whether we'd recognize any better impulses in what came off the pfhor homeworld.
Wonder how Durandal would take to being remade in Tycho's image, what with his history of being fiddled with by Bernard? or Leela's? or Leela in Tycho's? vice versa?
Wasn't Bernard the Science Director or something? (think it's in the header for Bernard's diary entry on the "I AM TYCHO. I will destroy Durandal." term.) How does he factor into alt-Tycho's scientific initiative?
