Further investigation reveals the following about these ludicrously high prices on Amazon:

Those high prices are place markers for their database. They don't actually have the book and do not intend it to sell. The price is so high that they will never get a sale on an item that they do not have inventory of. They will lower it when they get a new item again. It is probably faster for them to change the price than to create a new listing in their database.

False alarm.
Anyone want to buy mine for half price... $1,000?
