The issues I was seeing were just random differences. This level plays very much like the original, right down to the cascading room before the seven pillars. The surprise attack never worked right in M1A1.
If you've only played M1A1 you will find areas like the opening room on this level quite different. In M1A1, if you fire a shot in this room, the Pfhor outside will come rushing in. Easy pickings as they line up, conga style, in the narrow corridor trying to get in. In the original game (and beta) they don't falll for that spazeroid trick. No sir.
All down to the glue folks... the glue... ***sniff***
