I assume you're both forgetting the fact that Bungie works in 7's? 7 is one of Bungie's largest mythos, if not THE largest. Hiding it in the game makes perfect sense.

If there is a symbol under the slide like Ross suggests, and it turns out to be "no," then we'd have "Power of Seven" written on the gun. Another Marathon reference.

And if you don't want to call it "shichi," call it "nana."
