Yes I would assume that Wraiths can be carried via dropship, how else would a wraith reach the area under the bridge in AotCR? There is a ledge which it could not have climbed over to get there, and it certainly could not have come down an elevator and through hallways to the outside.

Maybe the plasma grenade symbol translates into "Be sure to aim" or something.
