In Response To: Re: Halo:The Flood (Ross Mills) I got my copy this morning as well. Amazon.co.uk seem to have jumped the gun somewhat. Still, I'm not complaining- the only problem is that I'm off to see Groove Armada in Manchester tonight, and won't have much chance to read it. I've read a bit though. Thoughts so far are that it's better than the Fall of Reach- the writing is much more fluid and engaging, without the leaden "Chief did this, Chief did that" prose that marred the first book. Annoyingly, there do seem to be some definite errors in the text- or, at least, bits where the game and book contradict one another. Like, the book describes the Pillar of Autumn's bridge as a dome, while in the game it's more of a box. And in the game, Cortana says "...given those odds, I'm content with three... make that four kills." Whereas in the book, she says, "...With those odds we still had three- make that four kills." Okay, it's nitpicking, but that was obvious first time I read it. You would have thought the people at Microsoft and Bungie would have spotted this sort of thing. And new stuff? SPOILERS Again, not read much so far, but a Prophet appears in the first chapter. And we find out Foe Hammer's real name- Carol Rawley. | |
