In theory, I could build a members-only comments system... but 1) it's FAR more work than I want to put in for this functionality (I really don't give a damn about fan fiction comments, personally), 2) several fiction regulars have suggested that this wouldn't be ideal (some of their friends just want to jump on and post comments, not create accounts in order to be able to do so; if the hoops actually remove the need for the system in the first place, why bother?), and 3) it would STILL require serious monitoring; nothing stops an offender from getting a new account, or a new email, or whatever. If someone wanted to volunteer to build the new system, then monitor it for me... that's a different story. If you're asking ME to do it... I'd rather just turn off comments altogether. :( | |
