: Oh... and before anyone thinks this is a "bash" on Bungie...

: Nothing could be further from the truth...

: I actually feel that Bungie had so little a hand in this deal... it smacks of

: touch Bungie's heart and soul...

Well, while I can't speak about this tourney since I don't really know much about it aside from the little snippets I've read here and there on the forum and what not, I can say that one of the first (it may have even been the very first) ffa tourneys that Bungie threw for Myth (what was it, valentines day massacre or something?) was poorly organized and had some absolutely terrible and unfair game choices for several of the rounds.

It seemed to me that Bungie picked games that were more "fun" than "fair", and that's all well and good for normal every day play, but in a tournament people get really pissed off if it's unfair in even the slightest way. I was in that tournament and won the first round, basically out of luck, because of where I started, and at the time one of my opponents was bitching about it being unfair. It wasn't until the second round when it happened to me that I realized he was right. It was basically unfair because of bad game choices on Bungie's part, which gave certain starting locations an unfair advantage over others.

I ended up complaining about it a bit to a couple of the guys that were hosting matches (I can't remember if they were bungie employees or just volunteers with mucho bandwidth), and I know a couple other people apparently made similar complaints. At that point though there wasn't much Bungie could do about it so it didn't change much.

I will say though, the Myth 2 tournament (can't remember the name, it was the one with the new bungie map and naming the herons and what not) they had was much better organized, and despite the fact that I didn't even make it past the first round in that tournament, it was more fun, because when I lost I knew it wasn't because of some silly unfair advantage given to whoever got lucky enough to start at a certain spot.

So if history is any indication, my guess is that the next tournament they have for Halo (if they have one) will be better organized because they'll learn from the mistakes of this one, which is what appears to be what happend with the Myth tournaments.
