: This is because you've killed them and most likely imparted a huge velocity
: into them with the needle explosions. However, when they enter that
: "frozen" state, they don't update their physics, and
: consequently won't move--but they still have that velocity.

: Now, the second piece of the puzzle: the aiming assist takes the velocity of
: an object into account and helps track that object. So despite the frozen
: unit not moving, it still has velocity, and the assist is trying to be
: helpful by predicting movement that will never happen.

: -rex

I noticed this a very long time ago (No, I'm not lying and I'm not trying to steal some lime light, I just wana point something out and maybe get schooled by the superior knowledge of Rex[p.s. nice logo on the Maw run =b]). We all know about the loading zones and the engine cutoff zones, correct?

Well, if you pass one of these zone markers with an enemy near you, the enemy "freezes". Like Ferrex pointed out, so does everything else. The AI for that enemy is cut off, as well as many other important things such as character movement.

Here's the kicker. Try loading a plasma gren32 on one of these frozen enemys while standing on the 'greener grass' side of the marker. Load as may as you like, they will never detonate.

Now, cross back over to the old zone. Things will change suddenly, first the charachter physics will react, then explosion atributes and renders, then death sequences. Basically, you will see the enemy's body react to an unseen explosion(or series of), then you will see the explosions (which deal no damage), and suddenly you will die.

The easiest places to see this is in those 'loading hallways' in AotCR or 2 betrayals. Just get a grunt to come along with you and have fun.
