I did it in single player mode. See the link below. Line up the Warthog so you're facing the far wall (the wall with the vertical light strips) and far enough back from the edge to get up to speed. Then, floor it! Just before you're about to go over the edge, turn and put the warthog in a flat spin. You'll fly through the air, spinning, and hit the wall. That wall has a steep, but survivable, slant to it. Rev the motor when you land on the wall and you'll slip backwards down the wall. You will probably take health damage, but it is possible to survive. See the link below.
