: The HBO Forum Card Game is based on an online message forum. The goal of the
: game is to collect 7 threads without getting banned.

: Setup

: Shuffle all of the cards into a single deck. The deck is placed face-down on
: the table. Each player is given 7 cards and should maintain 7 cards
: throughout the game by drawing a new card from the deck after playing a
: card.

: Cards

: There are two categories of cards. HBO cards and Admin cards both determine
: ownership of a thread, but Admin cards also feature special instructions
: that influence the game.

: Troll cards and Hax cards both count against the owner of a thread, but Hax
: cards also feature special instructions that influence the game.

: If there is a conflict, the special instructions featured on Admin cards and
: Hax cards overrule these written rules.

: Troll Score

: Each player has a Troll Score. Each time a player wins a thread, the sum
: value of all Troll cards and Hax cards in that thread are added to that
: player’s Troll Score. If a player’s Troll Score exceeds 100, they are
: banned from the forum and must re-enter the game as a new player, with 7
: new cards and 0 threads. However, if they can collect 7 threads without
: being banned, they win the game.

: Threads

: The game is played in a series of threads, and each thread consists of 3
: rounds. Going in a clockwise direction, players take turns starting new
: threads. A thread must be completed before a new one can be created: there
: can only be one thread at a time.

: Starting the game

: A player is selected to start the first thread by placing a card from their
: hand face-up on the table. This begins the first round.

: Round 1

: Going in a clockwise direction, each remaining player must add one card from
: their hand, face-up, to the thread. The cards should be placed slightly
: overlapping so that the numerical value of each is still visible.

: Round 2

: Continuing in a clockwise direction, every player must add one card from
: their hand, face-up, to the thread.

: Round 3

: At the beginning of the third round, the thread is assigned an owner: the
: player that placed the most recent HBO card or Admin card in the thread.
: If there are no HBO cards or Admin cards in the thread at the beginning of
: round 3, the thread is locked, all of its cards are discarded, and a new
: thread is started by the appropriate player.

: In round 3, continuing in a clockwise direction, every player may add one
: card from their hand, face-up, to the thread IF the numerical value of
: their card is equal to or greater than the most recent card placed on the
: thread. Players may also choose to pass.
: If a player adds an HBO card or Admin card to the thread in round 3, they
: become the new owner of the thread. If a player adds a Troll card or Hax
: card to the thread in round 3, ownership of the thread remains with the
: player that placed the most recent HBO card or Admin card.

: The player to the right of the player that started the thread is the last
: player to have a chance to add a card to the thread.

: Completing the thread

: At the end of round 3, the thread is given to its owner: the player that
: placed the most recent HBO card or Admin card in the thread.

: The values of the all of the Troll cards and Hax cards are then added
: together and that total is added to the Troll Score of the player that won
: the thread.

: If a player’s cumulative Troll Score exceeds 100, they are banned from the
: forum and must re-enter the game as a new player, with 7 new cards and 0
: threads.

: A new thread should then be started by the player to the left of the player
: that started the previous thread.

: Keeping score

: Each player’s Troll Score and thread count should be tracked on a piece of
: paper throughout the game.
