In Response To: Re: Gee, would be nice... (General Vagueness) : That's why I added unfeasible. What I meant is I want to know if it'll happen : or not. : You mean "We don't currently have plans to bring Theater into Halo 4's
If someone says they're not sure if they want to be in a relationship with you any more, you should walk away. That is, unless you're willing to hold up both sides of it. (I guess some people are.) They can only string you along if you LET them string you along. That said - 343 has made no statement that even REMOTELY resembles "we're not sure if we want to be in a relationship with you any more." bs angel's Twitter feed is pretty official, as far as 343 policy goes; she doesn't post stuff if it has a chance of coming back to bite them later. The tweet in question is pretty clear: they don't have any plans to bring Theater into Campaign or Spartan Ops. I think the wording makes it clear: it's not on the horizon. You're right - they haven't ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY ruled it out - but a basic understanding of the law of diminishing returns and the realities of game development combine (at least in my mind) to make the possibility that they'll revisit the topic down the road so small as to be unworthy of consideration. It is even LESS likely that you'll get an absolutely definitive statement to this effect - what possible purpose could it serve a company to close the door forever on something that a lot of people would like? What if some new hire solves the problem, completely on his own time, 6 months from now - do they throw the new code away because they said they'd never, ever, ever come out with a solution? Or do they have to say "hey, remember when we said we'd never ever ever do Theater? Yeah, we lied." Why not phrase it in a way that nearly 100% of your audience can understand as "it's not gonna happen without an act of God", and leave it at that? I'm amused by your rose colored glasses vis a vis "the HBO of a few years ago".
