In Response To: Re: Co-op Night is Monday! (stabbim)

: Yeah, I don't really understand why it's that way. It seems impossible that
: 343i could have believed it was a better experience to have to watch them
: alone, which leads me to the conclusion that there were technical reasons
: why it didn't happen.

: But I'm at a loss as to why - to the naked eye it appears that the vids are
: just played over the top of the UI, as opposed to unloading the SpOps
: menu, loading the vid, and then loading the menu up again. Please note,
: I'm just basing this assumption on the fact that if I back out of a
: playing video, it just immediately pops back to the lobby I was in, rather
: than appearing to "load" the SpOps lobby again - I could be
: wrong of course. But if that's indeed the case, why should it matter
: whether there are other players in the lobby? I understand it would have
: been difficult, maybe even impossible, to try to sync playback for
: everyone - especially since it's streaming (added difficulty there because
: it would have to pause everyone's vid immediately whenever someone started
: buffering), but who says it NEEDS to be synced? If it's just popping the
: video in over top of the SpOps UI, couldn't each player just view it
: independently at different times? You could always force the vid to stop
: when the game started (or, maybe, not allow starting the game until all
: players had exited the vid).

: Adding further confusion for me is this - I'm pretty sure that I popped into
: bluerunner's SpOps lobby on one of the early co-op nights this season
: WHILE he was still watching the video. And I don't think it interrupted
: the vid. I'll try to remember to test this tonight and see if it can
: actually be done or if I'm just crazy. But if it's possible to join
: someone's lobby while they're mid-vid and not interrupt them, then... WTF?

I'll verify this last part is true. It's not that you can't watch the video with more than one people in your party. You can't START the video with more one.
