(Other games TBD) : ▪ There will be snacks! : ▪ There will be Metal! : ▪ There will be games and prizes! : ▪ There will be memes! : ▪ There will be a special gift from Revenant to guests! : ▪ There *might* be laser tag! (TBD) : ▪ ▪ ▪ : When? : ▪ Official LAN dates are Saturday April 20th and Sunday April 21st . : ▪ Guests may arrive earlier with prior arrangements. : ▪ All must leave by Monday evening, April 22nd. : Why April? Weather in Ohio is a fickle thing. The goal is to dodge any winter : nastiness and summer face melting. In addition, Bryan Newman is also : hosting his LAN about one month later and I don’t want to step on any : toes. Besides, this opens up the window for back to back HBO LANs! How : cool is that?! : ▪ ▪ ▪ : Where? : My condo located in [REDACTED], Columbus Ohio [REDACTED]. : Full address will be disclosed in private to confirmed attendees. For those : wanting to ball park possible drive times, I live near the town of : POLARIS, OHIO . : ▪ ▪ ▪ : How? : ▪ Pelicans, trains and Warthogs. : I highly encourage those wishing to attend to consider carpooling. Not only : do you get to save on gas monies, you get to be trapped in a vehicle with : a fellow HBOer! For hours even! : For those wishing to fly, port Columbus is about 15 to 20 minutes away from : my residence (depending on traffic). Since it is close, I am willing to : pick up and shuttle anyone who might prefer to fly in. For an idea on : where the airport is in relation to my neck of the woods, please see this : link. : ▪ ▪ ▪ : Why? : ▪ To play Halo and hangout of course! : 2013 is shaping up to be full of surprises for our little community. With a : new Halo out and a new franchise from Bungie due soon, I wanted to take : the opportunity to host my own get-together of fellow HBOers. : If you went to HBOINDY last year, then you’ve got a pretty good idea on what : to expect. If you are not sure, check out my perspective here . One main : difference however is that there's no curfew or set time we must stop each : night. Will it be like HBOMB? I can’t say, I couldn't afford to go :( : What I can say is that you will have a lot of fun, you’ll meet interesting : people, kill them, and if we’re playing Halo 4, have them spawn behind and : kill YOU! In addition you’ll also make memories that are sure to give you : lols for years to come! : ▪ ▪ ▪ : Cost : As host I feel it is my duty to take care of certain expenses. After all, : asking you to spend your hard earned money to travel to my house to play : Halo, while fun, is not without costs. As such, I am providing 100% free : lodging at my place, for up to 16 guests. If you can make it, I will have : room for you to sleep. : In addition to room, I will also be providing meals. This will include 2 : breakfasts (1 hot, 1 cold), 1 lunch and 2 dinners. I am asking guests to : provide their own funds for 1 lunch that we will all go out for. There : will also be snacks and drinks available throughout the weekend. For the : meals I am providing I will do my best to ensure that you are satiated, : however if your hunger is greater than my wallet I ask that you consider a : few extra dollars for yourself. : So, things to consider for expenses: ▪ Gas/Plane tickets/transportation : arrangements : ▪ The cost of your meal at a group lunch. : ▪ Extra money if you prefer to stay at a hotel. : ▪ Special dietary requests/needs. : ▪ Possible laser tag Friday night (this is NOT set in stone, and : depends greatly on arrival time of guests). : ▪ ▪ ▪ : Quick Business : I reserve the right to pick and choose guests based on my preferences. While : I can’t think of excluding any specific individuals, I may need to : exercise this right. As host, I am responsible for all of you. Please : respect this. : Secondly, if you are someone who harbors prejudice towards others based on : race, gender, sexual preference or religion, stop reading. You need not : apply to this event. : Now that that unpleasantness is out of the way: ▪ ▪ ▪ : FAQ : Q.) How many may attend? : A.) I can host up to 16 guests. This is assuming that all 16 are staying the : night here. : Q.) How big is your place? : A.) Great question! If you come, you can measure it! Jokes aside, we will be : playing in my Condo. This includes two empty bedrooms, finished basement : and heated attached garage. There is also a deck to get fresh air or if : Bluerunner comes and wants to sleep outside. : Q.) Who is this open to? : A.) This will be an HBO LAN, no outside guests other than my girlfriend who : is eager to assist me hosting you all! : Q.) Will guests need to bring equipment? : A.) Yes. There will be a need for additional TVs and Xboxes. More details on : this will be given once an attendance list has been finalized. : Q.) Can I stay at your place? : A.) As mentioned above, you may stay at the condo. While I can’t provide beds : for everyone, you may bring a sleeping bag and pillow, or air mattress if : you like. Basically, we will sleep where we play. : Q.) Will you feed us? : A.) Yes. I will provide the main meals and snacks with the exception of one : lunch that we will go out for. Depending on your eating habits, the cost : could range from $7-$20. I have not confirmed, but there may also be : cookies that, if I am correct, are baked in an oven from heaven. : Q.) I don't know, Revenant… (x) hours in a car or plane is a long time… : A.) You may be right. I can’t tell you what your time is worth - only you : can. I can tell you that in the end, the time you spend in person with : your fellow HBO bros is worth it, or at least it was for me when I : traveled. : Q.) How long do I have to think about it? : A.) I need final confirmation by FRIDAY, March 22nd. This is for something I : am working on. I may still be able to take guests if there are slots : available after that time.
