It's interesting how they verbally mention it as "Sigma O 4" as it's always been a thorn in my side they spelled the constellation name wrong since The Fall of Reach was first published. It shouldn't be Sigma Octanus but rather Sigma Octantis. I don't know why it was misspelled in the first place and why it was never corrected. Astronomy, strangely, has never been the forté of sci-fi authors, and it's a skill they kind of need.

Maybe the trooper's mention of Sigma O was Bungie's way of understanding the mistake and making a reference to it without being incorrect about it. :)
