There is no immunity. Hence, wiping the galaxy clean is the : only victory. It is why the Didact accepts the strategy of the rings in : the end. Just because there is no immunity does not mean there is no way to defeat something. We have no cure for the common cold, yet we do have ways of combating it. Maybe the Didact had to accept the Halo solution because the human one was truly lost?
