Re: Halo CE Anniversary achievement list!

: there's a very real chance of people trying it a few times and not having it work,

Sure, but must achievements be doable on each playthrough? I don't know what the general view is on that, but if not, your point here wouldn't be terribly important.

: and thinking that section is broken or they're missing another
: Wraith somewhere--

That high Wraith does give off a slightly 'broken' vibe, the way it sometimes just hides and stays quiet.

: also aim with the rocket launcher doesn't necessarily
: mean that much, you have to be pretty far away to be (almost) guaranteed a
: clear shot at the Wraith and then it can just move out of the damage area

Being distant helps I agree. If I want to get it I'd normally do so when still undetected, right at the back of the area.

: I think the disconnect here, specifically, isn't with other games or
: achievements but the majority of players-- I'll die dozens or hundreds of
: times on my first time through a game, and still be quite satisfied when I
: finish, if I could count all my deaths in Super Mario Bros. before the
: first time I beat the game it would probably be in the thousands. I grew
: up playing Castlevania games but you give me around half an hour with one
: and I'll probably give you a death or two. I know of people that are
: significantly worse than me and care about it even less.

Like I suggested, the 'die and continue' business seems kind of ingrained in gaming culture. Perhaps developers often pander to it by making games so hard that repeated death is (typically) only to be expected; and thus the culture is reinforced and continued. But things might have gone another way. My own approach comes from preferring to embrace a game's reality bubble fully; so if I die, I view it as the end of that particular adventure. The bubble popped.

: which would be right after that, when you start the mission over... or do you
: mean something else?

Just next time, whenever that is. Maybe I'd start the mission straight away, or maybe I've had enough for now.
