Yeah, but that doesn't mean you have to go through the entire level on every attempt. If you're expecting to checkpoint-revert a lot anyway, I don't see why not save at the start of the run. : Unless Halo 1 also had that five-death revert to previous checkpoint-thing, : then that might be avoided. Nope. Halo 1 only tries to avoid bad checkpoints by checking for player-in-combat and stuff. I've never had an issue with it, though it technically can trip a checkpoint right before you fly off a cliff if you're grounded but moving fast in a 'hog.
