I'll admit that it doesn't look as good as version we're used to but when I first saw it, I couldn't help but cast my mind back to the early days of Halo development (not the raptor riding RTS days) and find it to be quite a fitting touch. Am I the only one that believes it was inspired by the first officially released screenshot of Halo? Side by side for your convenience:
