Because the swords can't intersect themselves. I probably could have done it if I reverted to Halo 3's method of merging (put one not to spawn at start, put the other, wait for the first to spawn).. but that would require really precise placement and much trial-and-error, because I'd have to position it so that it intersects with a sword that hasn't appeared yet and a block that isn't in place yet (since you can't merge a sword into a block, only a block into a sword). So, yeah--I had considered making a pair of scissors by having two swords, with only half of each sword visible. I would have looked cool. It would have taken forever (I'd have had to do it 4 times too). :) I also considered making scissors out of other objects..nothing looked really good and nothing stood out as well as the energy sword. And nobody is going to get confused about what the energy sword represents, so I went with it. My brain is fried--so much went into making this thing happen. I could go on and on about all the problems I had and solutions I had to sort out when putting this together. On. And on. Oh, and thanks! :D :D
