In Response To: Agreed. (ZackDark) : By Two Betrayal's intro, MC is too entrusting of 343, considering the lack of : dialogue between the two of them. Master Chief does not speak while the player is in control. Period. That breaks the immersion. For him to have any mid-level lines, it would require additional cutscenes. While the increased complexity of the plot necessitates a few extra cutscenes here or there, the inherent mysteries are part of Halo's appeal. It's not my intention to pull back the curtain. I'm also a firm believer that it's more interesting to play than it is to watch. Too many cutscenes can really bog a game down. *cough*Squenix*cough* Furthermore, I really like the original writing. I don't feel the need to throw out all the things I like about the game, just to make room for new stuff. Certainly, I could have changed more to make [R]Evolved a proper next-gen game. But that would be contrary to my intentions. I have no interest in retconning the game entirely; merely resolve discrepancies that have arisen with the expanded universe fiction. And I don't feel it is entirely out of character for Master Chief to accept Guilty Spark's help. John is a man of action and he responds to action. Guilty Spark arrives with backup and seems to have answers to the Flood dilemma. While more prudence might have been appropriate in retrospect, the fact is that John has found himself in a hopeless situation. As far as he's concerned, the Monitor has been nothing but helpful and informative.
