In Response To: So you're on a desert island: (Jillybean) : And you can take one [1] level from either Halo, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo ODST : or Halo Reach. But it's the only level you will ever play, ever again. : You don't have any company on your desert island, and no internet connection,
: Your damaged xbox, as well as being capable of playing only one level, is
: What do you choose? Good question. I'm torn between what I'd personally want to play, just for enjoyment, compared to which single level best represents everything that the franchise has to offer. Your selection, Two Betrayals, is a great level. However, its signature vehicle, the Banshee, is not my personal favorite, and gets largely de-emphasized in the rest of the series. It features some great atmosphere, and the Flood-- but it's the Flood at their least interesting. It's the best Flood level in Halo 1, to be sure, but even Halo 1 Flood at their best are mindless zombies compared to either the Covenant or H3 Flood. Assault on the Control Room is also a great mix of infantry and vehicle play, and features the Scorpion, which is always fun. It doesn't have the spooky dim lighting of Two Betrayals, but it still has excellent atmosphere. The Silent Cartographer is also very tempting-- the only problem with the desert island scenario is that it's too short, once you know all the tricks. The more I think about it, the more I lean towards Halo 3's The Ark. Another great mix of infantry and vehicles, it can be played in many different ways depending on your choice of path and vehicle. It's also got a Scarab encounter, and some great environment design. It's got orchestral versions of some of my favorite music from the original game, and the Dawn's landing is always fun to watch. Multiple scorpions-- although that is often a mixed bag. It's the only time the Prowler is allowed to shine, and it's one of my favorite vehicles-- with a turret gunner, a sniper, and a rocket marine, it packs almost as much firepower as a Scorpion and is a lot more fun to drive.
