Eight years ago today... | |

![]() Eight years ago a member of our community died after losing a long drawn out battle with Ewing's Sarcoma. The day after Valentine's Day. <3 Brian Andrew Morden was here from the beginning. A dedicated Myth-head, a member of WolfPack, and someone that followed Bungie with the rest of us as they charted into this new world called Halo. You can go back practically every year around this same time to read previous reminisces and catch up on who Brian was and what he meant to us. I won't rehash it all again. What I would like to do differently this year is recreate a portion of his memorial service that I wish you all could've witnessed. What follows does not have to be seen as an endorsement of a branch of religion, but of the pull that music written by people who are inspired can have on us all. If you do not agree, please stop now, we do not wish to offend. Brian would be a young sprightly man of 27 this year. We miss you Brian. Your strength in adversity inspires me to this day. From a recent email exchange with Brian's good friend (and ours) Brian Johnson (aka SilverBrin): The huge brass group was great. We were just blasting away up there like Brian would have preferred. That day was a huge blur for me. We were basically doing brass arrangements of classic Hymns. God of Our Fathers was definitely one of them. That's sacred and patriotic so you might recognize that one as it gets a little bit more play than your typical hymn. Here are some of the songs. Note that they are *not* the actual pieces as played back in 2003, they are just the links to other interpretations of the songs. Still, it's better than nothing, and they do still resonate, don't you think?
