: Lost was a good show... Ha ha, I actually thought of that while writing. Still, I didn't mean anything negative about the show. I'm a fan, really. I drink coffee from a "108 minutes" mug. I don't think symbolism is bad, I just think that symbolism doesn't necessarily make a story better. In other words, symbolism in a story can be a good shorthand for the themes that are already present in the work. The problem is when a work has essentially no themes outside of the symbolism. I like Lost quite a bit, as I think even without the character names and so forth, it touched on some interesting issues and had interesting characters.
