In Response To: "Epick"? "Splater"? "i"? *facepalm* (Gravemind) : I giggled a bit, but then I realized that it wasn't drawn by some kid in : pre-K. There's no excuse for an 11-year-old to have such atrocious : spelling (not to mention the "get pooped on" line; I guess kids : being crude and disrespectful is considered cute now). I know your average : sixth-grader probably isn't going to win the National Spelling Bee, but : misspelling simple words like "epic" or "splatter" or : forgetting to capitalize the personal pronoun "I" is inexcusable : by time you're in middle school. I hope that's not the norm for him. Of : course, this mostly likely isn't his fault, so this shouldn't be taken as : a insult to him. For all I know, he might have some language-based : learning disability (supposedly as many as one out of every five children : do), or maybe those responsible for his education have simply failed him. My kids aren't in school yet, but I've heard the other guys ripping on the schools. One of the guys here has 7 kids (4 his, 3 step), the oldest is 17 and the youngest is 4. He's said several times that he's seen a downward slope in the quality each of his kids have gotten through the years. I've met his kids. No learning disabilities. They do have a mean streak. That could have come from their great-grandfather, who was one of the bad guys in the Battle of Athens, TN. I can't say much about the spelling anyway. I can't spell "turret".
