: I realize your post was a well-intentioned critique, but you really come off : as sounding like a pompous blowhard. This is easily one of the best games : Bungie has put out in years. Reach truly feels like a fan service. Yet you : proclaim this masterpiece as a failure in the story department because the : plot did not advance in the direction you would have preferred. To read : all of this vitriol coming from a longstanding community member is a tad : disappointing. I'm not attempting to place Bungie above the level of : criticism because they're not. You certainly made some valid points about : the mission objectives and plot development. The post simply strikes me as : being disrespectful towards a company which has put so much effort into a : product made for people such as yourself. Just goes to show that no matter : what Bungie does they cannot please everybody. I disagree. I believe this was one of Bungie's weaker titles. It did feel like fan service, but not in a good way. I believe their design objectives for this title were excellent, but that their execution failed to achieve them. Cody's criticism is largely incisive and well-phrased. If anything he's easier on the game than I would be. Bungie earns its following through excellence, and when Bungie stumbles (as they did on Reach's single player), those of us who perceive a stumble - which not all will - are not obliged to pretend otherwise.
