: Oh, and according to the subtitles, Jorge didn't say "Mom", he said : "Ma'am". I thought it was "Mom" at first, too. He says "Ma'am", but pronounces it "mom". I've seen it in movies a few times. "Ma'am" indicates a person in authority, in this case Halsey, while "Mom" implies a maternal feeling/sense of familiarity, such as her role as mentor during the Spartan training.
