Tears for Fears was a bit too ahead of their time with that song, and the upbeat 80s version was a bit unfitting for the dark lyrics. And yet that's why it was special. When Gary Jules covered it, it MADE the final scene in Donnie Darko. It was brilliant. (Better than the U2 song they were originally wanting for the scene.) When Gears of War reused the Gary Jules version, the somber nature of the song fit great with the trailer and it worked. Now 500 covers later, this version follows the trend of trying too hard. And YET AssaultGodzilla manages to make it work very well, especially lyrically with what's going on onscreen.
