Marty mentioned in an interview that I really don't feel like tracking down (maybe a year ago) that Bungie got Marathon back. The patent could just be them soldifying that fact, and making the logo more official as a Bungie entity. They could also be making a new Marathon game. So, one or the other, or possibly both. From what we've seen and been told through press releases and interviews, though, Bungie stated that their new IP is a completely new and original creative universe, so that seems to rule Marathon out. Of course, they could have another team within Bungie doing something with Marathon, or may have plans to do something with Marathon in the future.
