In Response To: Re: Why I like ODST (ManKitten) : I think you have some sort of chip on your shoulder about this game. I don't : know why you are so bitter about it. If you are expecting each Halo game : to be better than the previous, then you are obviously going to be let : down eventually. Bungie is a great developer but they are probably going : to develop a dud at some point in time. And I still think you are missing : the point I was trying to get across. If ODST was the only Halo game on : the market, would you still have these complaints? Probably not. There is : nothing wrong with you holding ODST to the standard of previous Halo : games...but it's rather pointless to get all upset if it isn't as good. : They can't all be winners. Except that (for some of us) it is (as good). I liked ODST's campaign more than any other Halo campaign. My biggest gripe with the package, as it stands, is the difficulty in hooking up with friends for Firefight. THAT'S what's going to kill its long-term replayability for me... not any lack in its Campaign gameplay. And everybody discounts the Mythic disc as rehashed content - but I gotta tell you, not having to wait 60-90 seconds after firing up the game to get into a playlist is REALLY nice! Since I do a lot more 'play a game and go back to other stuff' type playing - as opposed to 'put in the Halo disc and play for 4 hours straight' as some people on my Friends list do - this time adds up dramatically. There've been times when the time I've waited for a playlist to load is close to 50% of the time I'm actually in the game that follows. Plus, you can't play Heretic, Citadel or Longshore at ALL right now if you haven't bought ODST. Meh. I'm as suprised by the hate as some other regulars here; I can understand feeling that this Halo game or that one is better or worse, but the adjectives used in this thread (and others recently) aren't really referring to relative likes/dislikes - people are using words that suggest that they're sorry they ever even TRIED the game. (If I felt the need to use some of the descriptions I've read in the past two days about ANY game, I'd have already returned it to a Gamestop.)
