In Response To: Re: Everything I've Come to Expect *SP* (Metalingus627) : Because, you know, all soldiers are giant hulking man-beasts who have not one : tiny shred of emotional response to anything ever. There is a world of difference between a petulant boy and a professional soldier. Well, a soldier may indeed be just a boy but once he accepts the Queen's Shilling then he is expected to behave like a soldier and not as a boy. : Are you kidding me? So should we have expected to see the Spartan kill
I didn't expect her to do that and I wasn't suggesting that anyone else should have expected her to do that. I was pointing out that her motherly attitude towards the boy was out of character. He was not literally her baby (unless we see this explained in another episode). Maybe then her sacrifice would make sense. Or are we to assume that there is something about the Spartan process that makes females broody? One retired to have babies and one thinks that O'Brian is her baby. His release from the capsule was a form of birth. He was so much smaller than her when she carried him in her arms. Are we missing some symbolism here? Was O'Brian born on that planet? : If thats what you wanted to see then I
Don't put words in my mouth. I did not want to see that. : Sure that would have been funny
Do you see the Chief as being a bleeding heart? Would he kill himself to save one ODST when the action leaves 3 ODSTs to tackle the Brute instead of 2 ODSTs and one Spartan? The mission was to snipe a high value target. Who was the better sniper? Who would have been the greater loss to the team, the mission, the war, and humanity: an incompetent soldier who was an excellent marksman or a Spartan who outclassed him at sniping and who was, all round, a much more accomplished soldier? Who cost the most to train? Even the monetary value of the Spartan's armor figures into it. ;-) : Eh, already covered in one of Frankie's earlier posts. Could have lived
To me the hair is just a sign of business as usual for the studios. Halo anime is no different to them than any other job. Its not the hair, its the attitude that goes with it.
