In Response To: Re: Panorama Bonanza (Hawaiian Pig)

: For the longest time I've considered halo panoramas to be so boring and
: stale. After the first few they all seemed the same.

I get the same feeling myself with some of the typical scenic panoramas. There are only so many vistas in the game to take pictures of and they get well covered rather quickly. I try to keep mine interesting with unique subject matter that you don't see in panos very often. There are few enough of us making these types of panoramas (at least that I know of and have seen) that we rarely go over the same ground as each other, and even when we do there is usually a unique touch to it that makes it stand apart.

: These, however, are straight up amazing. Great composition, well done
: post-production effects, while not overdoing it, and each actually have
: interesting subject matter. Great work

Thanks! I really appreciate the critique. Composition is the most important thing i look for when setting up a shot and the first thing that turns me off of a lot of peoples' work, panoramas and screenshots alike. As for the post-production, I try not to do a lot of major alteration. I have started using blur and depth-of-field more often to bring out the subject, but nothing to overdo it like you mentioned. The next thing after composition that makes me look away is over-saturation. It has its uses but it's a fine line. Unfortunately, many people don't see that line at all. There is such a thing, I'm afraid to say, as too much color.
