Aside from being a spectacular image, it does raise an interesting question. How would the forerunner have built a shield world? In space, Onyx wasn't enormous; the micro-dyson sphere contained within a slipspace bubble inside the planet was enormous on the inside, however. Would the forerunner have built the dyson sphere in real space then compressed it into slipspace? Or, would (could?) they have built it in slipspace to begin with? Honestly, I've never been too happy with the idea of a forerunner-built micro-dyson sphere. It's just too big for my liking. The constructs of the Halo rings or even the Ark would be insignificant in comparison, and seem to lose much of their grandeur when you learn of what the forerunner were truely capable of building. This is assuming that the dyson sphere in Onyx wasn't constructed in some less conventional and less conceivable manner (one which would drastically reduce the difficulty of fabricating such a large environment). An even wilder idea: perhaps the dyson sphere was actually built by the precursors and the forerunner merely moved it into the slipspace bubble inside of Onyx.
